Thembalikayise “TJ” Lupepe
Dr Thembalikayise “TJ” Lupepe is a South African businessman with business achievements and ambitions across Sub-Saharan Africa.
Coming from a medical background Dr Lupepe cut his teeth in business by exiting his practice, conceptualizing, motivating and steering the Gautrain Project (the $2,5bn underground railway system in Johannesburg South Africa, and the first of its kind and scale in Africa). This he did as part of the Bombella Consortium. Presently, about 100 000 people use the Gautrain daily, one of the biggest standalone African infrastructure projects to date.
Since then Dr. Lupepe has looked to developing projects in natural resources and construction under his umbrella company Mdali Group. Of note in these sectors are his partnerships with the Mota-Engil construction group – as the Chairman and primary partner in South – Africa and his current leadership of Vandasia.
“TJ” is currently the CEO of Vandasia, a company that has bought 43% of the iBhubesi offshore gas exploration project from Sunbird Energy, a company listed in the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX). Ibhubesi the first and biggest gas exploration block in South Africa.
